Bengali cinema offers some delightful surprises quite regularly. Yesterday, I saw a film titled RAMDHONU (Rainbow). The director duo isn’t a big name as yet, but has managed to make a rather absorbing and humorous film on one of the most topical themes – the growing competition among parents to get their wards admitted to a school of repute. Gargi Rai Chaudhuri as the mother and Rachna Bannerjee as an instructor of a parent grooming school gives fine performances. The small child as the protagonist does well too. Several lesser known actors from Bengali cinema like Kharaj Mukherjee & the actor who essayed the role of the father does a competent job. Thumbs up to such independent efforts …
